I would say anywhere from zero to two. The interesting thing about the all-on-4 procedure is that the majority of our patients have reported little to absolutely no pain after the procedure. As a matter of fact, they are so surprised at this that they have either gone back to work the next day or have been out and about showing off their new smiles. We know this because on many occasions we have been privileged to have our patients drive back to our office the very next morning to thank us personally.
We think a lot has to do with our sedation techniques, the use of growth factors and the fact that the teeth are connected to the implants on the day of the surgery. This means that there is no pressure or rubbing over the surgical site as you would expect with more conventional types of temporary teeth.

On a scale of one to ten, with ten being extreme, how much pain is involved when getting all-on-4 implants?

What is the average cost of an All-on-4 dental procedure?
The cost of all-on-4 in the US is between $25,000-$30,000 per jaw. The following is what the protocol typically includes:
• Coordination of an implant team consisting of surgeon, restorative dentist and lab technician
• IV Conscious sedation
• The preparation of plasma derived growth factors using the PRGF protocol for faster healing
• Removal of any remaining teeth in the arch (upper, lower or both) being worked on
• The surgical placement of 4 dental implants per arch.
• A fixed temporary bridge attached to the 4 implants that can be put to function that same day.
Four to six months after this first appointment, a final bridge is fabricated and placed by the lab technician and restorative dentist. This is the long term prosthesis that typically contains a hidden titanium metal framework for strength and durability.

I’m really interested in getting the all-on-4 dental implants that I see on your website. They seem amazing and I’m excited for this new step in my life. My question is how long post implant will I be able to resume normal activities?
We’ve had numerous patients that have actually gone back to work the next day. The all-on-4 procedure is a predictably aesthetic as well as graftless solution for an all too common problem: ” My dentist told me that I don’t have enough bone for implants” or “I was told I’ll have to wear removable dentures for at least a year until my grafts take and implants can be used for permanent teeth”
Because this specialized procedure involves placing implants at special angles, we can avoid important anatomical areas in the jaw that that would otherwise need to be grafted. Also because of the potential to connect new teeth to the implants on the day of the surgery, the gum tissues are relieved of any painful rubbing and pressure that even a temporary denture could create. Your “new life” can start immediately!

The old song ‘All I want for Christmas’ doesn’t work for me. All I want for Christmas is to have my two front teeth removed. They are hideous. But does the extraction process become more painful depending on how big the teeth are?
First let me say that as long as teeth and their supporting tissues are healthy and strong, modern cosmetic dentistry can work wonders in the appearance of a smile. If teeth are deemed non-restorable or they limit a comprehensive treatment recommendation then removals may be the only option. Size of a tooth does not necessarily determine how uncomfortable a procedure will be. Removal of teeth is probably the oldest surgical procedure performed by mankind. Historically (”pre-dental implant era”) the main goal was to get the tooth out…period! Now we obviously want the tooth out but the ultimate goal is to remove it gently without damaging ANY bone or gum tissue in the process. This is what could potentially lead to “pain”.
It is common for even the best trained dental surgeons use drills and burs to remove teeth. Regardless of how accurate the surgeon is there is always tissue and bone destruction.
. Piezo dental surgery solves this issue by using ultrasound waves to remove a tooth without damaging surrounding tissue. Because most removals of teeth should be done with the consideration that a dental implant replacement will be considered at the time of removal or at some later date, minimally invasive techniques such as piezo surgery should be considered.

Dr. Gallardo, I live in Cayman and have been told by a few people I know that you’ve treated them. They are very pleased with the expirience at your office as well as the reults. Do I need a special referral or letter from my dentist to have you evaluate for gum disease and possible dental implants?
Let me be the first to welcome you! I have been successfully seeing Cayman patients for specialty dental care for many years now and have met and become friendly with some of your dentists on the Island. Although you don’t need a referral from your dentist to see me, I would like to make sure that we keep them involved in your case as more complex dental problems usually require a team approach. Because we have a CT scan in the office and routinely complete even the more complex treatments in as little as one day with Intravenous Conscious Sedation, we make traveling to Miami a very efficient trip. We are located within 15 minutes from Miami International Airport. Many patients take advantage of the shopping while here or make time for a consult on their way to or from Europe. Please call usto discuss specific scheduling arrangements we have for out of town guests. Look forward to meeting you.
