How Often Should Invisalign Be Worn?

Invisalign's aligners are transparent and therefore can be optimal for people who care about teeth straightening discretion.
Invisalign is optimal for people who care about teeth straightening discretion.

Invisalign devices can do so much for people who care about teeth alignment matters. Remember, straightening your teeth nowadays doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to get standard metal braces. Teeth straightening options in this day and age run the gamut. So many orthodontic patients these days opt to get Invisalign. Invisalign’s aligners are transparent and therefore can be optimal for people who care about teeth straightening discretion. If you’re thinking seriously about getting Invisalign to straighten your teeth, you should learn as much about it as possible. You should even learn about how often you need to keep Invisalign aligners inside of your mouth. These aligners differ from classic braces in that you can easily and rapidly remove them as you desire.

How Often Should You Wear Invisalign?

It’s critical to figure out how often you should keep your aligners inside of your mouth. If you do not keep them in your mouth for the necessary amount of time daily, then you may risk wasting time with your teeth straightening efforts. It’s vital to wear these aligners for a minimum of between 20 and 22 hours each day of the week. This can pave the way for strong results. If you want to straighten your pearly whites without dilemmas, then you need to prioritize wearing your aligners for the necessary periods.

When Should You Think About Removing Your Invisalign Aligners?

Patients can take their Invisalign aligners off as they wish. That’s one of the things that makes Invisalign such a favorite in the teeth straightening realm. People appreciate the fact that they don’t have to feel “stuck” with these aligners. If you keep these aligners in your mouth for significant stretches of time, then you won’t interfere with your treatment outcome negatively. If you want to steer clear of time-related setbacks, you shouldn’t get too enthusiastic about taking your aligners out.

People should have no problems if they remove their Invisalign aligners any time they floss and brush their teeth. Taking these aligners out can be terrific for people who want to be able to manage oral health without issues. It can also be fine to remove these aligners before consuming any meals. If you want to be able to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner without any discomfort, then you shouldn’t think twice about taking your aligners out of your mouth for a little while.

What Happens to Patients Who Do Not Wear Invisalign Aligners Enough?

The inability to keep Invisalign aligners inside of the mouth for the recommended amount of time can lead to outcomes that aren’t exactly optimal for patients. If you do not wear these aligners for anywhere between 20 and 22 hours total daily, then your pearly whites will not go into their optimal spots. It will slow down the process of getting your teeth into their appropriate positions. That’s why excessive removal can force patients to have to keep Invisalign aligners in their mouths for markedly lengthier spans of time. People typically have to wear Invisalign aligners for roughly a year total. If you do not want to have to depend on these aligners for longer than 12 months, then you should do what you can to resist the urge to take them out without strong reasoning.

Don’t assume that you can only remove your aligners for basic daily activities such as the previously mentioned meal eating and flossing. That’s because it isn’t uncommon for people to take their aligners out before musical instrument use. If you’re an avid flutist who wants to be able to practice without a hitch, you don’t have to agonize about the possibility of having to remove your aligners for a bit. Athletes who participate in games and practice sessions often have no option but to remove their aligners as well. If you want to remove your aligners without any issues, then you should get your hands on a sturdy case that can safeguard them. The last thing you want to do is risk ruining your aligners while they’re outside of your mouth.

Be Straightforward With Your Orthodontist

Some patients make the mistake of not being 100 percent straightforward with their orthodontists regarding Invisalign treatment. Some young Invisalign patients do not like to wear their aligners while they’re at school in front of their peers. They sometimes feel self-conscious about the treatment path, and understandably so. If you refrain from wearing Invisalign while studying or working, you may end up bewildering your orthodontist. That’s because he or she may not be able to grasp while your treatment is rather sluggish.
